Holiday traditions, joyous gatherings and celebrations can often make the holidays feel emptier, Griffith police Social Worker Haile Gonlag said. But sharing positive memories and leaning on others can help make the holidays more bearable, she said.

Grieving families did just that at Sounds of Sarah's "Lunch and Learn: Embracing Grief, Unwrapping Stigma" lunch Wednesday at the Innsbrook Country Club in Merrillville. Sounds of Sarah is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public on the dangers of opioid use and illicit fentanyl. They also provide free naloxone, an overdose reversing drug, to the community.
